Dealing with Challenges – Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day One

Day One – The Beginning

All new blogs have to start somewhere. There has to be a first post with those first thoughts. It can be a daunting prospect especially when you are putting your name and image to it.

I have had this domain name for ages but didn’t manage to get it up online. This is all changing from today.

To make sure I keep at it I have started the journey with a challenge!

The 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge from Natalie Sisson – The Suitcase Entrepreneur

This certainly isn’t my first rodeo, in fact I have several niche blogs out there in the wilds of the internet, but this one is going to be under my name and my face!  A scary prospect for someone like me!

Why I started this blog

Originally, this was just going to be a pure travel journal. A way of documenting my many past travels as well as a place to talk about any current trips.

My ideas have morphed a bit so will also be using it:

  • to discuss how to get more freedom in my life even when I’m not travelling.
  • as a more ‘mature’ women travelling can also have it’s own set of struggles. Fitness and general health being one of them also seems like a great topic for my readers.
  • to discuss how to downsize your belongings to travel

There ideas all do fit into a travel type website so looking forward to having other things to discuss when at home.

Today’s Challenge Question

Finding your focus or what are your challenges?

We all have ‘reasons’ for not going ahead and living our dreams. It’s just human nature. We talk ourselves out of getting what we want. We lie to ourselves all the time.

Here are my 3 lies!

I am an Extreme Procrastinator!

I am like most people, I will look for any excuse to put off something that might expose me a bit. I tend to procrastinate on things that seem a bit hard or unpalatable. Making that awkward phone call, writing that blog post or broaching a tricky subject. You get the picture.

The fact of the matter is, it’s just a way of protecting yourself!

I have procrastinated starting an online business because it might bring me into the spotlight pure and simple!

This leads me to the real reason and challenge # 2.

Fear of Being Known Online

I am not a shrinking violet and most of my friends and acquaintances would consider me an extrovert. So what gives?

Well, people might disagree with me or worse still write nasty things about me for all to see.

It’s the fear of criticism that terrifies me. LOL. It’s really a stupid, irrational fear as everyone online has to contend with the same thing.

Best way for me to overcome it, is to just start blogging.

So ‘Just Do It!’

Bright Shiny Object Syndrome

bright-shiny-objectThe fear of missing out! Missing out on that great new trick or process to generate income online. Everyone hates the idea of missing the boat.

This can be a real hard one to get a handle on. It’s an ongoing struggle for a lot of us.

So there are my three challenges – probably not unlike a lot of you.

I am looking to the bright side though. I have enough time to get this plan going and money it not an issue in my household. So I really don’t have any excuse not to make progress!
